My Beloved Boots - Alexander Wang, Dakota

Photo from theoutnet.com

I love getting post and yesterday I got a very exiting, and large, box. My Alexander Wang boots finally arrived! I have been somewhat nervous that they wouldn't fit, or would be so utterly uncomfortable that I would have to return them but fortunately they aren't too small and have lots of padding inside - well enough to allow me to walk a fair distance without crying out in pain.  Another pleasant surprise is that I can walk in them, but that is undoubtedly due to the hidden platform and chunky heel not my skills at balancing. Although they do mean that I may not be able to eat for a while (food is overrated...), I am very pleased with them.
Can't wait to try them out with my light blue jeans and black pea-coat, or black tights and my a denim skirt with a grey marl cardigan, or hot pants and a crisp white tee......the list is endless : )

My Beloved Cause - Isabel Lucas and Angus Stone's Coral Sea Love - with Julia Stone's song ...

A really important issue that we should all think about. I love the sea, but more needs to be done to care for it!

My Beloved Day - Zorbing

Yesterday was my birthday, and I decided it would be fun to try zorbing. What is zorbing I hear you ask, well it is when you roll down a hill (above), inside a ball (below), and in our case we chose to be harnessed in. It was incredibly crazy, but so funny, and a tiny bit nerve racking, I would definitely recommend it if you like roller coasters, etc.

Afterwards we stopped off at the Mulberry Outlet - one of my favourite places in the entire world. I forced myself to not spend all the money I was given on this adorable little clutch, which took a lot of will power. Instead they gave me some stickers, badges and really cool postcards from the release of their 40th anniversary book. This is certainly the coolest sheep I have ever seen!

In the evening we had dinner at the Jamie's Italian. Was well worth it, and not incredibly expensive as you would expect. I love Italian food so this and my Tiramisu birthday cake, was absolute heaven. All in all a great day!

My Beloved Hair Style - Ombre Highlights

So I'm thinking of changing my hair, it's just plain at the minute and has a slight curl, so I'm thinking of getting ombre highlights. I don't want it to look fake I just want a sligh sun kissed look that adds a little more colour. Rose Byrne and Rachel Bilson have got the look just right, but i don't know if I am brave enough to actually take the leap. I have never had anything major done to it, so this would be a big change.....I'll think about it.

My Beloved Photographs - James Silver Horne

Recently fould these beautiful photos by a English photographer on the walls of my local Starbucks. There is a stunning one of a red squirrel in snow, a zany photo of a puffin mid call amid flowers, a adorable front portrait of a Highland cow, and a perfectly structured silhouette of a seal. They are amazingly shot, and depict wonderful aspects of nature. He is very skilled and certainly worth a look!

My Beloved Bikini - H&M

Everyone loves a great bikini, and when I saw this one from H&M I was very pleased to see it is only £3.99 for each half! With my summer holiday fast approaching, I have had an eagle eye out for the perfect bikini, and this is just what my collection needs. I already have a million patterned and embellished ensembles, and although this one is plain, it is in a great colour! Just right for casually stolling along the beach : )

My Beloved Idea - Birth Flower

Everyone knows they have a birth stone, but do they know that there is such a thing as a birth flower?! I did not know this so was quite surprised to find out that, firstly I have one, and secondly that mine (June) is a rose or honeysuckle! This actually makes alot of sense as I really like roses, and love honeysuckle, so much so that I recently saw Cath Kidston hand cream and am so annoyed that i have gone into 5 shops looking for it - no sign yet, so next stop is ebay. There was also a very shameful incident recently when I saw some when to smell it and it ended up looking like I was eating it and then the people that lived in the house that it belonged to were looking at me.....it was bad.
Anway, this could simply be chance, but maybe its not! Thought I would post something so other people could see if this was true for them!

My Beloved Bag - Cath Kidston Velvet Tote

I have had this bag for so long that it is actualy startin to quite seriously fall apart. It did once look like this, but is now kinda grey as it has been rained, snowed, and dropped on the ground. It is really sturdy so can easily hold all my books, but isn't too big to swamp me. I got it for my 18th birthday from my parents and it is such a great present cause it is incredibly helpful and its really pretty and kinda different. Hopefully Cath Kidston will release a similar style soon!

My Beloved Shorts - Accessorize

With Summer just around the corner, my wardrobe is once again getting inundated with floral printed items. I don't often look to Accessorize for clothes but they have some great bikinis and pretty vest and pant sets this season. The graduated pattern on these shorts really gives them a vintage feel, but also means that your top can't be too busy.
All we need now is the sun to come back!

My Beloved Coat - Stella McCartney

I saw this trench on Hanneli Mustaparta's 5 days, 5 looks, 1 girl on Vogue.com and instantly had to look for it. Finally foung it on StellaMcCartney's own website, but the ony snag was it's £1,255. Had been hoping I could ask for it for my birthday, and realised it would be expensive, but that would be just a little too much to ask for.
Really like the detail of the print and how it looks like a botanical study rather than simply a basic repeating floral print. May be I will get a job over the summer and save up, but I bet by then they wont stock it! Definatley to be paired with some really light blue worn jeans, or a exceedingly short dress ah la Hanneli. Love the green bag, but I just got a great tan tote bag that would suit it. Finish it off with a gold  Cartier LOVE bracelet, hair loose, not too styled, and Chanel shoes. Perfect!

My Beloved Book - The White Spider by Heinrich Harrer

Anybody that knows me can vouch for the fact that I do not come across as someone that loves to climb, but after I was recently lent Harrer's wonderful (I'm not sure if that is the right word) book, I have felt a shift in my life. In many ways The White Spider can be a life changing book, it is what sparked Joe Simpson's love of mountains, but more than that it inspires life. Scaling vast mountains is very often incredibly dangerous, and Harrer's writing really unpicks a climber's mind, so others can understand that what drives them to attempt such huge feats.
Death and success sit side by side in The White Spider, as tragedy and triumph are acknowledged in equal measure. The perils that face even the modern climber on the North Face of the Eiger are all depicted, but so are the great stories of man overcoming adversity. Some of the best tales are not of completing the climb but of rescue missions that saved lives, and what a man can do when one of his comrades is in danger.
For me, The White Spider is not a scary or gruesome tale of woe, it is an epic that repeatedly demonstrates the power of man. After reading it I feel a step closer to understanding why people put their life in the hands of a single rope, and why they pursue with great determination names on maps. These people are not overtly pulled towards danger. The true climber is drawn towards life and the pursuit of purity.

My Beloved Drink - Healey's Pear Rattler

Cyder always holds a special place in my heart, I blame it being from the South West of England! It always reminds me of effortless summers and being young, innocent, and dancing like a crazy person. But the best cyder for me is Pear Rattle - it has a sweet twinge that makes it very drinkable. It also holds the best memories for me, the highlight being sunsets over the Isles of Scilly, that make it all that more special. Sadly you can only really get it in the South West, so I have to stock pile it when I go to Uni. But whenever I am lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle, I always savour it, and am transported back to the beach.

My Beloved Shoe - Isabel Marant

These red courts are so chic - they go with jeans, a simple white tank and black handbag for simple day time cool, but also work perfectly with a LBD (although I should emphasise that it shouldn't be busy, and should be short so the pop of red from these shoes REALLY stands out!). They may be from a few seasons ago, but with their classic bow and eye catching shade they will be around for a while yet!

My Beloved Book - The Catwalk Cats by Grace Coddington

I love the look of this book, and Grace Coddington is a genius! I miss my own cat terribly, but I know she would have loved this : ) I always think she was a Chanel cat with her monochrome coat - a very stylish cat.
I love that Coddington has a sense of humour and that comedy can be added to the fashion industry, without it being tacky. Instead humour in the fashion world becomes effortless and elegant, I think only Coddington can pull that off.

My Beloved Shoes - Asos Bow

Just saw these on the Vogue website today, and may have to invest in them (only £45)! They are so pretty, and not too a la Louis Vuitton to be copies. Also the low block heel allows me to run away from the ball back to my humble abode when the clock strikes 12.

My Beloved Song - Lover's Carvings(Cut) by Bibio

This is the song from the Amazon Kindle advert! Everytime it comes on the tv I want to bob around and sing along :) It is actually abit longer, but I personally like the cut version.

My Beloved Perfume- Coco Mademoiselle

I have used it since I was 13, and I still love it (although Marc Jacob's Lola, and Daisy do feature in my fragrance collection). It is just so classy, and feminine but also fresh and different. I just saw the most recent Keira Knightley advert and the way she is and how she handles herself always seems to sum up the fragrence for me. Also the soundtrack for the first advert she shot, 'LOVE' by Joss Stone, is just so romantic!

My Beloved Poem - I am not I by Juan Ramon Jimenez

I am not I.
               I am this one
walking beside me whom I do not see,
whom at times I manage to visit,
and whom at other times I forget;
the one who remains silent while I talk,
the one who forgives, sweet, when I hate,
the one who takes a walk when I am indoors,
the one who will remain standing when I die.

By Juan Ramon Jimenez

A poem about love that makes me smile, and seems different from all the other lovey dovey poems out their. More special and real. I analyse poems everyday but this one I don't want to disect, I just want to enjoy it.

My Beloved Shoes - Salt Water Sandals from Toast

These shoes are so prefectly suited to summer. My friend has them and every time I see them I want to steal them a tiny bit : ) Not only do they go really well with jeans and pretty tea dresses, but you can wear them when you paddle in the sea!! Also love the vintage, old school vibe they have going on, which fits perfectly with my 1950's summer dress.

My Beloved Royal Wedding Memorabilia - Cath Kidston Mug

As royal wedding fever starts to hit England, the intensity of products celebrating the occasion is starting to gain momentum. Some of it is truly hidious and tacky, but I am actually thinking of investing in this mug by Cath Kidston. the illustration is cute and differnt from lots of this other photograph plastered things that are popping up in the shops. It is only £10, and will always remind me what I was doing on the 29th April 2011.

My Beloved Cafe - Patisserie Valerie

I am actually in love with the cakes from Parisserie Valerie. My favourite is the Raspberry Tart, as it has a slightly crunchy pastry with sweet custard centre and perfect raspberries (my absolute favourite fruit), but I have been known to also enjoy the Apple Tart and Mille-Feuille - not at the same time! A branch of the cafe recently opened in Bath and I often have to fight the urge not to go in and indulge. Instead I have decided to have a change pot and save up for one of their special large cakes, such as the one pictured below.
Delicious!

My Beloved Nail Varnish - OPI Mad as a Hatter

I don't think they sell this anymore as it was produced for the release of the Alice in Wonderland film, but it is just such an amazing nail varnish. I love glitter, and this is PURE glitter - a magpie would explode if it saw it! I got it when it came out and it is just so colourful and goes with everything so I never want to stop wearing it. I'm sure other brands do similar colours but the ration of the glitter in this is so intense that it really can't be beaten.  The only problem I find is getting it off, as it is so rough that it works like sandpaper on any cotton wool pads, but this is a small price to pay for fun!

My Beloved Book - Rivers by Griff Rhys Jones

I recently went to see Griff Rhys Jones do a talk at the Bath Lit Festival, and so I had the opportunity to meet him afterwards I brought a copy of his book ‘Rivers’. I admit now that I am a fan of his programmes but hadn't actually read his books. The night before I forced my friends to watch his programme, so they could appreciate his genius as I did (they said it was 'very good', but this may have been to shut me up).
The talk he gave was really interesting, but also funny and light-hearted, although for me the main purpose of the evening was to meet him after. I hesitated to go up to the table, but after a firm push from my friend I found myself in front of him. What followed was thoroughly embarrassing. I won't go into details, but I could have played it a little cooler.
When I got home, I decided after the fun evening I had had I was defiantly going to read his book. I am used to reading books that give you headaches, so I was very pleased to read something that educated me but in an entertaining way, and actually caused me to laugh out loud. When I got to the end I had that thoroughly cliché feeling of not wanting it to end, but I can honestly say that even on my tight student budget I immediately found a way to afford his another of his books, 'Mountain'. 'Rivers' is a really entertaining read; it made me appreciate the rivers that decorate the English countryside, and also raised some important questions, but all was constantly infused his humour so it never felt preachy. Most importantly it sparked my passion for travelling and exploring, but reminded me that you don't have to go so far afield for a good old adventure.

My Beloved Top - Cath Kidston at Uniqlo

I am trying really hard at the moment to be careful with my buying habits, but when I saw the lovely collection that Cath Kidston has done with Uniqlo I had a little spend. The thing that broke me was the fact that not only are they really pretty designs, but money from every purchase will benefit a great charity (JOICFP), which helps run a safe motherhood programme in Zambia.

My Beloved Song - Express Yourself by Charles Wright

This song is such a great summer weekend song! The video to it also makes me smile so much :):):)

My Beloved Dress - Suno

Sometimes there is just one item that you want above all of those other pretty things, and for me this Suno dress is that. It is just so simple, but the mixing of colours and patterns from the tie dying makes it so beautiful. It is from last year, but I still can't stop thinking about it! I first saw it on Kate Bosworth, and then in an article in American Vogue, and since then it has stuck in my head, destined to never fill my wardrobe, but always fill my dreams. Maybe one day I will stumble across it in some random shop.

My Beloved Print - The Stripe

Coco Chanel gave stripes the style factor when she adopted them, and since then the striped top has become a staple item in the wardrobe of fashionistas all over the world. I was brought up on a diet of old school glamour, in which Audrey Hepburn donned a classic stripe top and capri pants combo, and Marylin Monroe used stripes to exetuate her assests.
Yes they symbloise sailors and prison, but picked wisely, the only thing that stripes reflect viewer is style. Due to Chanel they are synonamous with a french womans ability to look chic and effortless whilst manipulating a mans wardrobe to look sexy on the female form.
To me my multitude of striped tops symboise weekend dressing, which thanks to the lack of formality at University, I am able adpot throughout the week. They are casual and effortless, but timeless and stylish rolled into one.

I haven't actually seen this film but the trailer looks so good. Can't wait for it to come out!

My Beloved Shop - H&M

As I woke up this morning the sunshine was peaking through the blinds and it made me wish it was time for my holidays. So to make me feel all summery I decided to look at pretty summer clothes and plan my wardrobe.
I am loving H&M this season. They have excellent but versatile pieces that are great for tropical holiday's but also brightening up dreary British summer days. Also because they are reasonably priced they are even more tempting! There are lots of different items that I am seriously contemplating buying, but here are a few of my favourite ones.

Bring on the sunshine and ice-cream!

My Beloved Day at The Fashion Museum and Assembly Rooms

Had a wonderful afternoon at the Fashion Museum enjoying a delicious selection of cakes in the Assembly Rooms which was accompanied by a really interesting talk about the history of royal wedding dresses. They have such a great range of clothes from lots of different historical periods in the Fashion Museum so there is certainly something to interst everyone (also there are corsets and huge underskirts that are hilarious!). There exhibition of wedding dresses has a beautiful dress from Alexander McQueen (kindly donated by Lara Bohinc), and I particularly loved the detail on the train of a 1920's dress.

A day filled with beauty, and lots of laughs!
