My Beloved Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem Boots

I adore these boots. Everything about them just adds up to perfection. The beautiful print, the contrasting laces, the grippy sole, the leather detail! I also (surprisingly) love walking up mountains and these really do aesthetically merge the outdoors aspect of me, with the part that would happily spend hours shopping.

And here is the twist in my story - I recently purchased these boots, and then cancelled the order. You see, although I think that these boots are actual perfection in the form of shoes, they were still a ludicrously
large amount of money, and I remembered that if I went vintage shopping I could actually buy literally 50 different things for the same amount of money.

Also I don't think that they would have fared very well in the very wet and very muddy English countryside, even if they did look wonderful on the streets of London.

My Beloved Dress Designer - Elie Saab

I love dresses - the way they can make you feel romantic and passionate, how they can give you a new confidence in yourself, or their ability to inspire endless dreams. I also keep on meaning to blog about Elie Saab's Couture, which was simply a dress lovers fantasy, and after viewing his RTW Fall 2011 collection yesterday I remembered just why I adore him. This work is just so effortlessly feminine! Dresses that are figure hugging, glittering, and in sumptuous colours that draw the eye in. These are the desses that girls dream about walking down the isle in, the things that five year olds imagine princesses wear, or what greek goddesses threw on in the morning.

My Beloved (Future) Run

After just going down to watch the runners doing the Bath Half Marathon, I have decided that next year I too will be one of those people completing 13.1 miles! This is my officail declaration of it, so there is now no going back - I always say that I am goin to do stuff like this but never get around to it, so now I can't change my mind. Now I just have to start training....

My Beloved Weekend - Bath Lit Festival

Griff Rhys Jones

After a very hard week, I am really looking forward to this weekend. This afternoon I am going to see Daisy Goodwin (My Last Duchess), Michael Arditti (Jubilate), and William Nicholson (All the Hopeful Lovers) give a talk about writing about love, which will hopefully help me with writing the novel I have been planning for the last 6 months. Then tomorrow evening I am going to a talk from Griff Rhys Jones!

My Beloved Video - Emilio Pucci's Peter Dundas talks to Suzy Menkes

It is always really interesting to hear from the designers after taking on roles at very evocative fashion houses, like Pucci. I really like what Peter Dundas has done for the label, and the fresh direction he is taking it in.

With all the hype around Dior at the moment, I wonder what their new head designer will do in the aftermath....

My Beloved Film - The Young Victoria

This film always makes me smile, and glow a little inside. It's is such a sweet love story but with a nice dose of humour, that feels all the more magical as it's true. The entire film is shot beautifully, and I think the only problem with it is that it has to end when I want it to keep going and going. They write letters to each other, something that I find so romantic and kind, and that just adds to it all. It is not a simple love story, but one with twists and turns like any real relationship, but when they finally end up together you can really feel how much Victoria and Albert loved and respected each other. A truly classical love story.

My Beloved Summer Dress - New Look

Just brought this dress from New Look for my summer holiday (yes a little early!). It is so pretty and girly and the vintage print of Venice looks like it could actually be from the 1950's, so much so that I couldn't leave it on the rail. The belt finishes it off, and I can't wait to pair it with some chunky heels when the sun starts shining again. Until then I will be pairing it with my fail-safe black tights, a navy boyfriend cardigan or possibly my cosy fisherman jumper, and my structured 1950's bag.
