My Beloved Summer Dress - New Look

Just brought this dress from New Look for my summer holiday (yes a little early!). It is so pretty and girly and the vintage print of Venice looks like it could actually be from the 1950's, so much so that I couldn't leave it on the rail. The belt finishes it off, and I can't wait to pair it with some chunky heels when the sun starts shining again. Until then I will be pairing it with my fail-safe black tights, a navy boyfriend cardigan or possibly my cosy fisherman jumper, and my structured 1950's bag.

My Beloved Poem - Kingfisher by Norman MacCaig

Kingfisher

That kingfisher jewelling upstream
seems to leave a streak of itself
in the bright air. The trees
are all the better for its passing.

It's not a mineral eater, though it looks it.
It doesn't nip nicks out of the edges
of rainbows. - It dives
into the burly water, then, perched
on a Japanese bough, gulps
into its own incandescence
a wisp of minnow, a warrior stickleback.
- Or it vanishes into its burrow, resplendent
Samurai, returning home
to his stinking slum

This song always puts a smile on my face, and reminds me how lucky I am.

BEST DAY EVER!

http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/showreports/archive/2011/02/23/lfw-a-w-11-report--burberry.htm?slideshow=true&slideImage=5

I won a competition on GraziaDaily.co.uk to write a report of the Burberry Fall 2011 show. Am SO incredibly happy! I love Grazia, so being featured on their website feels amazing! I also scraped some money together and brought Nicholas Kirkwood x Erdem boots earlier, but more on them another time : )

Such a good day!

My Beloved Look - Matthew Williamson Fall 2011

The changing colour of the dress, the crisp blazer, the sky high shoes with socks peeping out from. I love it! The entire look, just feels so street ready, and really plays with dressed up and casual stereotypes. Williamson's pairing of the clothes and simple hair with fresh make-up really makes this seem wearable and versatile.
The girl from the beach has just come into town.
