My Beloved Poem - Having A Coke With You by Frank O'Hara
HAVING A COKE WITH YOU
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, IrĂșn, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
partly because in your orange shirt you look like a better happier St. Sebastian
partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for yoghurt
partly because of the fluorescent orange tulips around the birches
partly because of the secrecy our smiles take on before people and statuary
it is hard to believe when I'm with you that there can be anything as still
as solemn as unpleasantly definitive as statuary when right in front of it
in the warm New York 4 o'clock light we are drifting back and forth
between each other like a tree breathing through its spectacles
and the portrait show seems to have no faces in it at all, just paint
you suddenly wonder why in the world anyone ever did them
I look
at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world
except possibly for the Polish Rider occasionally and anyway it's in the Frick
which thank heavens you haven't gone to yet so we can go together the first time
and the fact that you move so beautifully more or less takes care of Futurism
just as at home I never think of the Nude Descending a Staircase or
at a rehearsal a single drawing of Leonardo or Michelangelo that used to wow me
and what good does all the research of the Impressionists do them
when they never got the right person to stand near the tree when the sun sank
or for that matter Marino Marini when he didn't pick the rider as carefully
as the horse
it seems they were all cheated of some marvelous experience
which is not going to go wasted on me which is why I am telling you about it

My Beloved Chanel Inspiration
Karl Lagerfeld cited Hammershoi as one of his inspirations for the colour palette of his Spring 2011 Couture collection, and I was delighted to hear this as I too am a fan of Hammershoi's. His work is just so fresh and the sense of light is beautiful, a feeling tat I got when viewing the masterful work at Chanel. My parents visited an exhibition of Hammershoi's work a few years ago in London and I really wish I had gone. Fortunately they got the accompanying book so I still got to have a look at his stunning pictures!

My Beloved Dior Couture Spring 2011 Pieces
Was just having a look at the yesterday's Couture shows in Paris, and when I saw the beautifully sculptured pieces by Galliano I couldn't help but think of the great film An American in Paris. What I would give to wear a Dior dress, with their wonderful layers and romantic colours!

My Beloved Lace Jacket
Went a little crazy when I hit the sales earlier this month, but certainly one of my best investments was this cropped black lace jacket from Warehouse. I have been looking for a lace jacket after Stella McCartney's beautiful creations, as they look so classic and effortlessly classy with some well fitting jeans (black extra skinny, slight stretch) and a good quality crisp white tee. Just right for a few cocktails with some great friends, or to add some elegance to a casual look.
Have been feeling a shift in my personal style recently, not really sure where it is going, but I am really pleased with the results so far!
P.S This photo really does not do the jacket justice!
My Beloved Floral Kimono Top
I am a lover of florals -as you can probably guess from their repeated inclusion in posts- so when I saw an article in Grazia a few weeks ago on floral patterns this season my heart leaped a little. There were lots of designer pieces that I admired, but this top from Dorothy Perkins certainly caught my eye. I am not often found in DP and was sure it wouldn't be in store yet, but was very happy when I spied it near the door. Although completely inappropriate for the current cold weather it looks great with light denim shorts and a grey strappy top. Casual elegance to a t.
My Beloved New (Look) Blouse
I saw this blouse on New Look's website but wasn't 100% sure about it, but popped in and tried it on yesterday and it turned out to be a great find! It looks chic with jeans and courts and a simple elegant bag, but also stylish as everyday work-wear with some tailored trousers. Can't wait for some warm weather so I can wear it without getting pneumonia!

My Beloved Book - Wait for Me, Deborah Devonshire
I have been intrigued by Deborah Devonshire for a while, as she has appeared in Vogue a number of time and has always appeared fascinating. So when I saw this wonderful cover for her most recent book I had to buy it. Can't wait to read it, and had to share this photo that is included in it (below). She just seems so elegant, and full of old school glamour. Even after only reading the blurb and small snippets I would certainly recommend it!

My Beloved Gap Socks
How cute are these socks! Plain socks can just get so boring, but nobody wants excessively cheesy socks that look like they were in fact intended for children. They will certainly be keeping my toes warm this winter!
Also Happy New Year everyone!
